James “Uncle Jimmy” LeRoy Norris, age 58, of Manchester, died March 24, 2018, at Carroll Hospital Center. Born October 1, 1959, he was the son of the late Lewis Franklin Norris and Doris Joan Waugh Norris.
He worked in all types of construction, including carpentry, masonry, heavy equipment operator and underground utilities. He was a member of the Littlestown Eagles Post #2226.
Jimmy was a one of a kind man; a hard one to miss in the crowd, either dancing or singing too loudly, he stuck out in his floppy cowboy hat and boots. He loved bluegrass music, attending bluegrass festivals, dancing the two step and clog dancing, gardening and cooking; and he could tell you everything you ever wanted to know about country and bluegrass music, from the performers to the writers. He would do anything that he could for anyone he met, even when he didn’t have enough for himself – he was selfless and truly loved seeing other people happy.
He is survived by: his son and daughter-in-law, Jason R. and Nicole Norris of Littlestown, PA; son and daughter-in-law, James L. Norris, Jr. and Ashley Wright of Midlothian, VA; daughter, Jennifer L. Norris of Taneytown, MD; brothers and sisters: Virginia Jennings and husband Larry of Union Bridge, MD; Lewis “Buddy” Norris, Jr. and wife Linda of Westminster, MD; Barbara Raper of Manchester, MD; Kenneth Norris and wife Bonnie of Westminster, MD; and Diane Klingler and husband Bunky of Westminster, MD; granddaughter, Aubrey Nicole Norris; and many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his brother William “Mark” Norris; and nephew Kenneth W. Norris, Jr.
