Janet Lee (Bixler) Hollinger

Janet Lee Bixler Hollinger, 80, of Westminster, died Friday, November 4, 2022, at her residence.  Born February 22, 1942 in Shipley, MD, she was the daughter of the late Elsie Mae (Hook) Bixler and Charles Willard Bixler.  She was the beloved wife of the late Stewart Marvin Hollinger, whom she married July 5, 1964.

She was employed as a beautician working at Cut Above, Carroll East and most recently Hairport.  She was a 1960 graduate of Westminster High School and Baltimore Beauty School.  She was a member of Zion United Methodist Church in Shipley, life-long member of the Zion Choir and served as Vice President of the Zion United Methodist Women.  She was also a member of the Maryland Troopers Association and charter member of the Carroll County Choral Society under the direction of Herb Sell.   Janet enjoyed her meals at the VFW.

She is survived by son David G. Hollinger and wife Suzanne of Westminster; sister Dolores M. Bankert of Westminster; grandchildren Taylor Hollar, Evan Grant Hollinger and Riley Grace Hollinger, and great-grandson Mason Hollar.  Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and great nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a son Craig M. Hollinger, sister Carol (Bixler) Head, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Guy Wolf, Eugene and Catherine Hollinger, Raymond and Miriam Hollinger, Betty Bitzel Mikesell, Raymond Bankert and aunt and uncle William and Virginia Hook.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday one hour prior to service at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster. 

Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 9, 2022 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.  Interment will follow at Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery in Shipley.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to Zion United Methodist Church of Shipley, 2714-16 Old Washington Road, Westminster, MD 21157.
