Janet Helen Tucker, 77, of Westminster, passed away on Monday, February 2, 2026 at Woodholme Gardens. Born November 2, 1948 in Washington, D.C. she was the daughter of the late George John Thomas and Helen Page Fletcher Thomas. She was the loving wife of 56 years to Ronald David Tucker.
Janet grew up in Vienna, Virginia and graduated from James Madison High School in 1966. After moving to Westminster, Janet worked a number of years for The Strouse Corporation, leaving there in her early 50’s to go back to college where she attended Mount Saint Mary’s University and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BS degree in elementary education. She then went on to teach for 16 years at Taneytown Elementary School where she then retired. Janet was a big New York Yankees fan and she loved horseback riding, hiking and kayaking.
Besides her loving husband, she is survived by her children Elizabeth Adrianne Hider and son-in-law Jeffery Hider, Bryan David Tucker and daughter-in-law Puja Tucker, sisters Patricia Anne Smith and brother-in-law Conrad Smith and Catherine Adrian Thomas; grandchildren Shaan David Tucker and Dylan Ram Tucker.
She was predeceased by her siblings Stephen Matthew Thomas and Susan Elizabeth Thomas and her brother-in-law Jay Thomas.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring.
