Jean Callahan Sheftic, 90, of Westminster, died Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at home. Born September 13, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence Callahan and Martha Morrison Callahan. Her loving husband of 68 years, John C. Sheftic, died November 12, 2022.
Jean was a proud graduate from the Miners Hospital School of Nursing in 1953 and one of only three surviving nurses from her class. Before retiring in 1996, she was the Director of Nursing at Golden Age Nursing Home.
Jean and her late husband, John, enjoyed their retirement years traveling to visit their children and grandchildren and taking bus trips to interesting locations. She loved catching up with her nursing classmates at their class reunions and was an avid Oriole fan. Jean participated in the Harvard Nurse Study since 1976 and was notably one of very few nurses to participate for decades.
Jean loved her family dearly and is survived by 3 children: Jean Bilodeau, Mary Sheridan (Dan) and John C. Sheftic Jr. (Kelli), six grandchildren: Greg, Mike, Alex, Erica, Brent, and John, and three great grandchildren: Camden, Korver, and Karter.
She was predeceased by her brother, Robert A. Callahan and her sister, Joann Rosage.
