Jeanette Carol Whinnie

Jeanette Carol Whinnie of Baltimore, Maryland, passed away suddenly on July 11^th, 2021. She recently celebrated her 79^th birthday. Janie was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, in June of 1942 to the late Frank Whitten and Caroldell (Carol) Christoph Whitten Bruder. Janie lived in many places growing up, Indiana, Alaska, Florida, and settled in Maryland in her teens. Her favorite childhood memories were her time spent with her Grandma & Grandpa Christoph, helping to raise her in Clearwater Beach, Florida.

Janie raised her 3 children in Langley Park and then Laurel, MD, with her former husband, the late James Andrew Whinnie, Sr. She stayed home taking care of the household, their children, and 15 additional foster babies along the way. She took classes at University of Maryland, College Park, majoring in Business Administration & Accounting, and later moved to Baltimore and began her career in Finance. She was a detail oriented and devoted employee, later focusing on Payroll and making friends of all coworkers around her. She retired in 2015 and enjoyed spending time with her family, and close circle of friends. She loved the beach, and to vacation with her family, and socializing and visiting with her friends. She spent most of her time the last 3 years with her special friend Rob Pollack who we were so grateful could enjoy each other’s company. Janie was a ray of sunshine and brought a smile to anyone around her and will be missed by so many.

We almost can’t bear losing you, but we know you will now be our Guardian Angel in Heaven looking down on us as you always said your Aunt Evelyn and Aunt Tootsie did for you. We know they only took you from us because they had to. Keep your light shining over us Mom, Grandma Janie, we still need you. We love you so very much.

Janie was preceded in death by her brothers Jack Whitten and Eric Bruder, and her grandson Tyler James Ferguson.

Janie is survived by her brother Vernon Bruder, Jr (and wife Jo), her son James Whinnie, Jr, her daughter Diane Ferguson (and husband Tom), her son Greg Whinnie (and wife Brandee), her granddaughter Lauren Ashley Gray and “grandson-in-law” Michael Hooper, and her great grandson Michael James Hooper.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Wednesday, July 28^th, 2021 at 6:00pm at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 East Main Street, Westminster, MD, 21157.
