John David Carbaugh, 91, of Westminster, MD, passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2024, at the Maryland Masonic Home in Hunt Valley. He was born on February 20, 1933, in Union Bridge, MD. John was preceded in death by his parents, Charles L. Carbaugh, Sr., and Mary Evelyn Albaugh, his siblings Charles L. Carbaugh, W. Luther Carbaugh, Ruth Black, and his late wife, Shirley Ann Carbaugh, mother of their two sons. John is survived by his wife, Jean Carbaugh “Jeanne,” his sons, Jeffrey David Carbaugh and wife Connie, and Todd Derrick Carbaugh and wife Karen, his three grandchildren, Jennifer Mariea, Kaitlyn Passmore, and Matthew Carbaugh, and seven great-grandchildren, his stepdaughter Candy Saylor, two step-grandchildren Megan Saylor and Mick Saylor, and three great-step grandchildren.
John was a hardworking man who devoted his life to his family, community, and country. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955 during the Korean War. He worked at Koontz Creamery until its closure in 1977, retired from the Dairy Farmers of America in 1995, and worked at Haines Real Estate for 22 years. He proudly was elected and served as Judge of the Orphan’s Court, Carroll County in 2001, retiring in 2016. John was also a member of various organizations including the Door-to-Virtue Lodge #46, Boumi Temple, Western Maryland Shrine Club, Westminster Elks, Carroll County Farm Museum, Carroll County Historical Society, Westminster American Legion, West Carroll Republican Club, and Westminster United Methodist Church.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 27, 2024, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main Street, Westminster. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday, June 28, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. Interment to be held at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery, 3184 Church Street, Manchester, MD.
