John Gilbert Gearhart

John Gilbert Gearhart, Sr., 89, formally of Taneytown, died Sunday, July 11, 2021 at Birch Manor Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare.  Born Dec. 11, 1931 in Sabillasville, he was the son of the late William Gearhart, Sr. and Grace Fleagle Gearhart.  He was the husband of the late Betty Ehrman Gearhart.

John served with the Maryland National Guard.  He was an electrician and worked for Angel’s Electric and retired from Commerce Electric. 

He is survived by a son, John Gearhart, Jr.of Hagerstown; sisters Doris Dell Lockard of Westminster; Ida Slick of Bristol, Tenn., and a brother Harvey Gearhart and wife Sylvia of Westminster.

He was predeceased by a brother William Gearhart, Jr. and sister Frances Conaway.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 24, 2021 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster.  A Memorial Service will begin at 3 p.m. with Pastor Mark Jones officiating.  Private inurnment will be held at Mt. Tabor Cemetery in Rocky Ridge.
