It is with sadness that we announce the passing of a wonderful husband and father John Francis Murray, age 81, of Taneytown, MD passed away unexpectedly on June 15, 2026 at Shock Trauma. He was born on May 5, 1945.  He was the son of the late Beatrice Ferguson and John “Ivan” Murray. He was the loving husband to Gail Murray with whom he was married to for 56 wonderful years and they were high school sweethearts.

John was in the Vietnam War from May 1, 1968 and was discharged on May 1, 1972.  He was employed at C.R Daniels in Ellicott City and retired shortly after having a stroke in 2014. John really enjoyed family time because that meant the most to him. He enjoyed going to the beach and loved taking his grandkids down every year to the Winterfest of Lights in Ocean City, that was a tradition John and Gail started with their children when they were young. He enjoyed eating crabs with his family. He also loved sitting and watching the Ravens and Orioles games.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his sons Mike, Rob (Stephanie), Jeff (Nicole) and Stephen (Jeremy) and his only daughter Kristine (Ricky), dog Mollie, grandchildren Grace, Jordan, Hallie, Luke, Damian, Abby, Lucie, Kamden, Kylynn and Mason, sister Irene Cook and brother and sister in-law Mark and Vicky Wilson and brother in-law Jeffrey Crane, grand-pets Tucker, Rex, Greta, Grayson, Lola, Baylie and Willie Nelson, and close family friend Alison Sagi. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, his in-laws William and Rose Grimm,  sister Beverly Crane, brother and sister in-law Greg and Carol Rapisarda and brother in-law Jimmy Grimm.

The family will receive friends on Thursday June 25, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster.

Graveside services will be held Friday, June 26, 2026 at 11 a.m. at Lake View Memorial Park, 2724 Liberty Rd., Sykesville, MD 21784.
