John Richard Bowers, 93, of Orlando Florida, formerly of Westminster, died on Wednesday July 3, 2024, at the Davenport Florida Care Center. Born February 28, 1931, in Westminster, he was the son of the late Walter Harrison Bowers and Emma Ester Myers Bowers. He was the husband of the late Cordelia Elizabeth Scattergood Bowers.

He served in the Army National Guard. He worked in construction until moving to Orlando in 1990, the latest employment was at the Orlando Temple for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Surviving are his daughters and sons-in-law, Karen Jarrell and husband, Roy of Orlando; Amy Hayes of Orlando; Janice Grimes and husband Todd of Webster, Iowa; and Son and daughter-in-law, Shane Bowers and wife Meiken of Morfelden, Germany; 9 grandchildren; 12 great- grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson. He was predeceased by a daughter, Kathleen Bowers, 6 sisters and a grandson.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 9, 2024 from 4-7 p.m. at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E Main St. Westminster, MD. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in the Meadow Branch Cemetery.
