John C Sheftic

John C. Sheftic, 94, of Westminster, died Saturday, November 12, 2022 at home. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years Jean Callahan Sheftic. Born January 25, 1928 in Wehrum, PA, John was the son of the late Alex Sheftic and Anne Balog Sheftic.

Following his service in the U.S. Navy from 1945 – 1949, he was honorably discharged as Radarman Second. John graduated from St. Francis College in Loretto, PA, and received his Master’s Degree from Western Maryland College. After teaching, he retired from Fairhaven in 1994. He was a member of St. John Catholic Church.

John is also survived by their children, Jean Bilodeau, Mary Sheridan (Dan), and John C. Sheftic Jr. (Kelli), six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

John and Jean enjoyed their retirement years traveling to visit their children in Idaho, California, and South Carolina, and, taking bus trips to interesting places including Niagara Falls, the Adirondacks, Cooperstown, NY, and Atlantic City, NJ.

Memorial mass will be held at St. John Catholic Church, 43 Monroe St., Westminster, MD, on Thursday, November 17, 2022 at 11 a.m.  Inurnment of ashes to follow at Mount Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Emmitsburg, MD.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John Catholic Church or the charity of your choice.
