John Robert Wilson, 72, of New Windsor, died on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at Ridge Overlook. Born on November 7, 1949 in Gettysburg, PA., he was the son of the late Roland Wilson and Hilda Pittinger Wilson. A blind date changed his life forever when he met his wife of 34 years, Sharon Pickett Wilson.
He graduated from Taneytown High School in 1967. Before retiring he worked at Hughes Net and then was a Custodian at Westminster High School. He served in the Marines during Vietnam.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Lindsey Gehret (Russell) of Westminster, and two granddaughters, Eloise and Maddie; brother, Harold “Butch” Wilson of PA; sisters, Barbara Mahaney (Gary) of Thurmont, and Diane Hahn (Ronald) of Sabillasville; sister-in-law, Teresa Wilson of Westminster. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother David “Gus” Wilson.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 23, 2022 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 East Main Street, Westminster.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 24, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home with Deacon Charles Barnhart, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens with military honors.
