John "Jack" Anthony Sturla Obituary

John “Jack” Anthony Sturla, age 85, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at home.  He was the husband of Cheryl Sturla.  They shared 62 years together.

Born in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late James and Grace Sturla and the youngest of six children.  He graduated from City College and was employed at Maryland Cup Corporation as a pressman for 40 Years.

He was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Westminster, MD.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and all sports.  He will be remembered for his love of family his smile and his good nature.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Cheryl Sturla and daughters Theresa Joneckis and husband, Christopher of Sykesville and Susan Sturla of Westminster and Urbano Rutigliano, along with his lovable dog, Walter. He was a loving Pop Pop to Caroline Joneckis and Evan Joneckis of Sykesville.  Also survived by sister, Cecilia Barata of Reisterstown and brother Lawrence Sturla of Essex and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by sister Mary Grace Langrill and brothers James Sturla and Gerard Sturla.

The memorial mass will be held at St. John Catholic Church with a date to be determined and the interment will be private.
