Joseph Braitmayer Cooney, Jr. 68, of Gettysburg, PA died Tuesday, July 29, 2025. He was born July 1, 1957 in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of Joanne Cooney Wood of New Windsor, MD and the late Joseph B. Cooney, Sr. 

He was the owner of Cooney’s Heating and Air Conditioning, LLC. He graduated in the Class of 1975 from North Carroll High School. He grew up in the Carroll County 4-H program showing livestock and raised his children in the same program. Spending time in the barn with his kids was where he flourished. He was the most happy when he was spending time with his grandchildren. 

Besides his mother, he is survived by his three children, Katie Cooney Parrish, and husband Drew, of Manchester, MD; Kyle Cooney and partner Jeremy Voss, of Dubuque, IA; and Kailey Cooney of Union Bridge, MD; two brothers Rick Cooney, and wife Michele, of Fairfield, PA; and Mark Cooney of somewhere in one of the Virginias; three grandchildren, Harper Parrish, Camden Parrish, and Nellie Cooney; Jeanne Cooney, the mother of his children; devoted friend, Brenda Ecker; and devoted employee Chad Hylton. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins. 

He was predeceased by his youngest brother, John Cooney. 

The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 2, 2025 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster, MD. Memorial Services will begin at 11 a.m.
