Born Oct 14, 1943 at home in Carroll County, the daughter of the late William Frank Wike and Mary Catherine (Carr) Wike. For almost 59 years (since 1/19/1962) she was the wife of Edward Merritt Walsh.
She was a 1962 graduate of Westminster High School (winning Betty Crocker and Pillsbury prizes in home economics) and continued her education with Bible classes taught by professors of the Washington Bible College. As a teenager she gave her heart & life to her Lord Jesus Christ thus immediately becoming a citizen of heaven where she now resides with Him. She was a founding member of the Westminster Bible Church where she taught Sunday school, junior church and sang in the choir. The Bible classes she taught possessed eternal value in that they enabled those who took God’s word personally to be reunited with her when their mortal lives are also completed here.
She loved her family, making major contributions to family health and well-being through careful shopping, home cooking and garden produce preservation even winning the blue ribbon (with cash award) for the best peach pie at the Carroll Country Agriculture Fair and a senior citizen garden prize for best fruit display. All this aided her husband who earned his education awards at the Johns Hopkins night school. She also enjoyed painting and for entertainment, preferred reading about or viewing movies of our early western National development.
Surviving besides her husband, their son John Daniel Walsh and sister Darlene Rohrback, (who they raised after the death of her parents) are Darlene’s husband, David Rohrback, and their son Zebulun with companion Whitney Warner. Also surviving are nieces and nephews of the Wike, Walsh and Arbaugh families.
The family will receive friends on Monday, January 11, 2021 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster, MD 21157. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Lucas Ball officiating. Interment will follow at Westminster Cemetery.
