Kathy Eckard Obituary

Kathy Lee Eckard, 66, of Emmitsburg, died on Saturday, May 14, 2022. Born on April 11, 1956 in Gettysburg, PA., she was the daughter of Pearl Hughes Caples of Westminster. Her father, Glenn L. Caples, died on June 11, 2011. She is also predeceased by her husband, Kenneth R. Eckard, who died on March 10, 1989.

She graduated from Westminster High School in 1974. She enjoyed cooking and baking. She was a member of Blue Ridge Sportsman’s Association.

She is survived by one daughter, Kristin P. Eckard and partner Karl Wertz of Metuchen, NJ; former daughter-in-law, Kelly Eckard-Kuhn of Gettysburg, PA; two sisters, Gail Caples of Westminster and Lisa F. Ridgely and husband Danny of Westminster; and one grandson Kassius Eckard.

In addition to her husband and father, she was predeceased by her son, Keith N. Eckard who died on January 22, 2016, brother Michael E. Caples who died on April 9, 1990, and her sister Vicky Caples who died on January 21, 1981.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 21, 2022 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 East Main Street, Westminster. Celebration of Life Services will begin at 11:00 a.m.
