Larry Wayne Jennings, Sr., 75, of Union Bridge died Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at the Westminster Healthcare Center. Born January 22, 1947 in Kingsport, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Harold E. Jennings and Maudie Parks Jennings. Survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Virginia “Ginny” J. Norris Jennings.
Before retiring he was a tractor trailer driver and heavy equipment operator. He served in the Navy during Vietnam, receiving the Vietnam Service Medal with two bronze stars. Petty Officer Jennings is very efficient at his job of moving cargo. He is the type of man that you can assign a job and be sure it is going to be done. Petty Officer Jennings behavior is a very good example for the rest of the men in the Division. Petty Officer Jennings has a unique way of bringing out the best in the men under him as well as showing great respect for his supervisors and Senior Petty Officers. His appearance is always at an inspection readiness. He promotes good morale among the men with his easy nature. Petty Officer Jennings has a good command of the English language both written and oral. He loved watching westerns and John Wayne movies.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons Larry Wayne Jennings, Jr. and wife Callie of Hampstead and Darrell E. “D.J.” Jennings and fiancé Gaye of Hampstead; sisters Janice Hahn of Manchester and Betty Shriver of Hampstead; grandchildren Legacy M. Jennings and Larry Hunter Jennings, great-granddaughter Dixielynn M. Jennings and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was predeceased by his sisters Debbie Walsh and Kathy Farrow.
Services and interment will be private.
