Larry Glenn Tyree

Larry Glenn Tyree, 82, of Westminster, MD, and formerly of Flintstone, MD, passed away surrounded by friends and family on December 26, 2024.

Born July 10, 1942, in Holden, WV, he was the son of the late Garnett Cook Rucker.

Raised in Holden, WV, Cheshire, OH, and Flintstone, MD, Mr. Tyree graduated from Flintstone High School in 1960 and continued his education at Frostburg Teacher’s College and Bowie State for his master’s.

Mr. Tyree began his career in education in Prince George’s County, MD for 16 years. In moving to Carroll County, Mr. Tyree was the principal at Sandymount Elem. (1980-1982), William Winchester Elem. (1982-1987), Manchester Elem. (1988-1990), and supervisor of elementary education at Carroll County Schools (1990-1998).

Mr. Tyree is survived by his wife of 55 years, Judy (Yoder) Tyree, son Carl Tyree and wife Kelly of Gaithersburg, MD, son Trevis Tyree and partner Mandy Baker of Thomasville, PA, and daughter Rachel Dressel and husband Tim of Westminster, MD; five grandchildren Paige, Jack, Josie, Chase, and Kylene Tyree; former daughter-in-law Patty Tyree of Manchester, MD; sisters Sharon Howard and Jennifer Rucker of Nashville, TN; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mr. Tyree is preceded by his mother Garnett Rucker, stepfather Edgar Rucker, sister Saundra Rucker, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at Fletcher Funeral and Cremation Services, 254 East Main Street, Westminster, MD, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 3, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Lou Piel officiating. Interment Fairfield Union Cemetery in Fairfield, PA.
