Laverne Louise (Lippy) Kelbaugh Obituary

Laverne Louise “Lippy” Kelbaugh, 90, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 15, at WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on July 5, 1935, Laverne was the daughter of the late Murray A. Lippy and Verdella (Werner) Lippy. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Albert Kelbaugh, in 2017.

Laverne devoted more than 50 years of her life as a self-employed in-home daycare provider. She lovingly cared for generations of children, offering not only supervision but warmth, guidance, and a second home to many families in the community. Her nurturing spirit and steady presence left a lasting mark on countless lives.

She was a proud member of the Westminster High School Class of 1954 and a faithful member of St. Benjamin's Lutheran Church.

Above all, Laverne cherished her role as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her children: Sharon Wolf (Bentley), Linda Barrick (Herman), Kathy Carnegie (Richard), Cindy McCarty (Timothy), Wanda Campitelli (Joseph), Mark Kelbaugh (Patricia Johnston-Kelbaugh), and Bryan Kelbaugh (Kerry). She is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Heather Lee Barrick (1988), daughter-in-law Carol Hartman Kelbaugh, son-in-law Gary E. Bollinger, as well as her siblings: Shirley Close, Gerald Lippy, Furhman Lippy, and her youngest brother, Murray A. Lippy Jr., who passed away on February 16, the day following Laverne’s passing.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Morning Glory Personal Care Home for the love, compassion, and devoted care shown to Laverne over the past 20 months.

Laverne will be remembered for her deep love of family, her generous heart, and the countless lives she touched throughout her 90 years. Her legacy of care and devotion will live on in all who knew and loved her.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 19, 2026 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster.
