Louise Miller Obituary

Louise Wright Miller, 90, of Westminster, went home to be with our Lord on Saturday, July 3rd, 2021 at Dove House in Westminster Maryland. She was born on a farm in Taylorsville, MD, on February 13, 1931. She was the daughter of the late William Earl Wright and the late Bessie Warfield Grimes Wright.  

Louise was one of 28 graduates of Mt. Airy High School in 1948. After her graduation she immediately went to work as the first secretary for Mt. Airy High School. In 1951 she moved to Westminster and began working as a telephone operator for the C&P Telephone Co. After raising four children, Louise returned to work as an accounting clerk at the Black & Decker Mfg. plant in Hampstead. She retired after 30-years.

Louise was predeceased by her husbands, Edward Frock, Sr., in 2000; and LaVere Miller, in 2007. She was predeceased by her sister Mary Elizabeth Wright Zepp, her brother, Raymond Earl Wright, and her adopted brother Martin Grimes Fowler Wright.

Surviving are her children and spouses Kevin E. Dayhoff and Caroline Babylon of Westminster, Karen Minor of Westminster, Timothy E. and Lisa Frock of Claiborne and Tammy and Robert Handzo of Jacksonville. She was predeceased in 2020 by her son-in-law, Steve Minor.

Louise cherished spending time with her grandchildren: Nick Frock – wife: Jessica; and Adam Frock – wife: Natalie; Ryan Handzo – wife, Brittany; and Colin Handzo – wife: Kelly Handzo. Alexandra Handzo, Connor Handzo. And her great-grandchildren, Olivia, Bennett, and Charlotte Frock.

Louise was a culinary artist who simply loved to cook and create unique recipes. Her artistry in the kitchen was the topic of a number of magazine and newspaper articles. She won numerous awards. Her recipes were widely published, including in the culinary magazine - Taste of Home.

She was a member of the Taylorsville United Methodist Church until she transferred her membership in 1951 to the Westminster United Methodist Church. She remained very faithful and active in the church, serving on many committees and undertaking numerous responsibilities.

She was an avid reader, a member of the Mt. Airy Historical Society, Carroll County Triad, and volunteered at the Carroll County Farm Museum. She was a member of the national AARP and an officer and active member of the local chapter, AARP #662 of Westminster.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster, MD 21157

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 7th, 2021, at the Westminster United Methodist Church at 162 East Main Street, Westminster, MD 21157; with the Rev. Dr. Malcolm Stranathan and Rev. Ken Humbert officiating.

Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Westminster United Methodist Church at 162 East Main Street, Westminster, MD 21157; or Bridging Life - Carroll Hospice, 292 Stoner Avenue, Westminster, MD 21157.
