Margaret (Lathe) Britt

Margaret Britt (Lathe) of Westminster, Maryland passed away on September 17, 2023. She was the loving wife of the late Robert (Bill) Britt, Sr. Her parents were the late Bertrand and Eleanor Lathe (Hottle) of Owings Mills MD. Her family includes son Bob Britt, Jr. and wife Susie of North Wales PA, and son Steve Britt and wife Teresa of Gettysburg PA. She had five grandchildren including Lauren Suitor and husband Jorge of Abington PA, Heather Fisher and husband Kyle of Warrington PA, Sarah MacIntyre and husband DJ of Export PA, Kevin Britt and wife Danielle of Walkersville MD, and Tyler Britt of Walkersville MD. She was also very proud of her ten great-grandchildren. Margaret was born in Baltimore on March 28, 1942. She grew up in Owings Mills MD with older sister Sunnie (Kronk) and younger brother Paul both deceased. She was married in 1960 starting a life with her husband in Owings Mills MD. Her young family then moved to Westminster MD where she lived for over 60 years. She was a homemaker when her two boys were young. She then began working at, and later managing, the 140 Book and Card store in Westminster MD which fed her passion for reading books and collecting Hallmark Christmas ornaments. She later worked at the Sandymount Children’s Daycare center where she loved interacting with young children. She also enjoyed going to her children’s, and later her grandchildren’s, school and sporting events. In her retirement years she loved to go to auctions where she met many wonderful friends. She was also a cat lover. Her cat Winston will miss her dearly. The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 23, 2023 from 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. with service at 12 p.m. at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main Street, Westminster, MD. Interment will follow at Meadow Branch Cemetery.
