Marie Stenger

Marie Stenger, 88, of Westminster, formerly from Ocean Pines and Silver Spring, Maryland, passed away suddenly on Sunday, November 5, 2023. Born April 14, 1935 in Greencastle, PA, she was the daughter of the late Charles Clary and Annamelia Clary. She was the beloved wife for 67 years of the late Jim Stenger.

Marie loved playing bridge, pickleball, tennis, watching the Washington Commanders, attending book club, volunteering at Atlantic General Hospital and especially loved spending time with her family. Marie was an amazing cook and baker. Marie loved her dog, Sadie. Marie recently attended her 70th Greencastle High School reunion. She held incredible strength, strived for happiness and understood grace and humility. She was faithful, forgiving and a true friend to many.

Marie was the best wife, mom, and grandmother (Nonnie). She will live on in the hearts of her family. She is survived by her daughters Abbe Rutland (Greg) and Ann Patterson (Terry); grandchildren Riley Kocher (Shawn), Allison Terfehr (Jon), Kate Howe (Patrick), Adam Patterson (Stephanie) and Jessica Scott (Josh) and 8 beautiful great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church, 5600 Washington Road, Sykesville, MD 21784. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to Messiah Lutheran Church at melchurch.org.
