Marilyn Sue Bowser Obituary

Marilyn Sue Bowser, affectionately called Sue, 76, of Taneytown, died Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at Carroll Hospital Center. Born March 8, 1949, in McAlester, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of the late Zella “Polly” (Mangrum) Hudson and Marvin Bryan and the oldest of seven children.

Sue grew-up in Yanush, Oklahoma and was a proud graduate of Buffalo Valley High School, finishing near the top of her class in 1967. An academic at heart, Sue was an aspiring author and avid reader (especially of true crime/espionage), and ensured that her children developed a robust vocabulary and appreciation for proper use of grammar and punctuation. Sue was a huge supporter her children’s interests and celebrated their creative and professional accomplishments.

Later in life she was lovingly referred to as “Nana” by her precious grandchildren who she took much pride in. Sue also loved collecting clocks, vases, and other vintage finds. Outside of her children and grandchildren - animals brought Sue great joy. She had a heart for helping stray cats and giving many a home over the years.

She is survived by children Jennifer Wood (Pat) of Taneytown, Katie Bowser (fiancé Kurt Anderson) of Baltimore, and Andrew Bowser (Emily) of Los Angeles, CA; siblings Marvin Bryan Jr., Michael Bryan, Randy Bryan, Denise Fatherree, Maverick Bryan, Sherry Ray; grandchildren Abby and Elias Wood.

There will be a small private service for family and friends.

Please consider making a memorial donation in Sue’s honor to an animal rescue/shelter or wildlife rehabilitator.
