Martha Matthews Fisher, 80, of Manchester, Maryland, passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at her home, with her loving family by her side. Born on November 6, 1943, in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late William and Elizabeth Matthews. She is survived by the love of her life of 58 years, Earl A. Fisher.
Marty was the life of the party. She loved dancing and listening to her husband’s band, as well as a good bottle of cabernet. She was an avid reader, especially Stephen King books, and enjoyed traveling with her family and close friends. She preferred the Caribbean Island of Sint Maarten and the city of New Orleans. She loved watching and supporting her grandkids play sports. She was a gambler and loved to bet on race horses. Hobbies of hers included collecting unique earrings and gargoyles. She attended Western Maryland College and taught middle school math for several years before becoming the first independent Title Abstractor in Carroll County for 48 years.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her three daughters and their spouses; Erin M. Fisher and husband Bob Retzler of Westminster, Md, Laura F. Heinle and Husband Lawrence of Manchester, Md, and Rebecca Mislak and husband JD of Manchester, Md, grandchildren; Sydney Heinle, Aaron Heinle, Noah Kline, Connor Kline, Parker Mislak, and Annabelle Mislak. She is also survived by her siblings Mary Rebecca Kroe (J. Michael), Karen Costello (Tim), and Susan Harris (Gary), brother-in-law Errol Smith, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her brothers, John and Richard Matthews, and sister-in-law, Joy Fisher Smith.
