Mary Lee Mathews (Reynolds), 81, of Sabillasville, Maryland passed away Thursday, July 3, 2025, at her home. Born August 17, 1943, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Hugh Oliver Reynolds and Miriam Estelle Kissinger.
Mary Lee loved life, and her family most of all. She enjoyed being outdoors admiring the beautiful creatures and surroundings of her Catoctin Mountain home. Before retiring she worked for the State of Maryland for over 25 years. Those who knew her will remember her kindness, her willingness to lend a hand, and her quiet strength. She touched many lives with her generosity and her warm, steady presence.
She is survived by her son Bart Mathews and wife Kathryn (Ford) of Sabillasville; brother Hugh Reynolds and his wife Sharon (Stiltner) of Martinsburg, West Virginia; grandchildren Kristina Mathews of Gettysburg, PA, and Mitchell Mathews and wife Emily (Lawson) of Hampstead, and Mary Rebecca “Becca” Mathews of Sabillasville; great-grandsons Dale and Dace Harvey of Gettysburg, PA; sister-in-law Louise (Mathews) Henry and husband David of Baltimore; nieces and nephews Rachelle Glass, Lori Burns, Hugh Reynolds Jr., Julie Strickland, Howie Strickland, Tony Bibb, Ronald Mathews, Michael Mathews, Augusta Mathews; and many grandnieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 60 years, Lyle Walton Mathews, and her son Lyle Walton Mathews, Jr.
The family will receive friends on Monday, July 14, 2025 at 10 to 11 a.m. at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster, Maryland with funeral services to follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Lorraine Park Cemetery, 5608 Dogwood Road, Baltimore, Maryland 21207.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Frederick County Humane Society, 1786 N. Market Street, Frederick, Maryland 21701.
