Mary Ellen Brookhart Obituary

Mary Ellen Brookhart, 94, of Manchester, MD, died Wednesday evening, March 20, 2024 at BridgingLife Dove House with her loving family by her side.  Born November 20, 1929, in Cockeysville, she was the daughter of the late George Cockey and Nettie Parks Cockey. She was the youngest of 11 children.

Before retiring, she worked at Longview Nursing Home, Carroll Hospital and cleaned homes.  She volunteered at NESAP, where she made many friends. 

She is survived by twin children Nettie D. Reese (William L.) of Westminster and William Edward (Brent) Brookhart of Brooklyn, NY, grandsons Garrett Reese (Holly) and Trevor Reese, greatgrandchildren, Lexie Dexter and Hunter Reese, and her cat Tweety.  Also survived by close family members Vicki and Randy Stull, Philis Cockey (Jody, Heather, Chad), and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by 10 siblings, Douglas, Elmer, Lillian, Elizabeth (Wheats), William, Melvin, Charles, Norman, Annabel, and James.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to NESAP, Inc., P.O. Box 731, Hampstead, MD 21074.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
