Nellie Caroline Beard

Nellie Caroline Beard, 83, of Westminster, died Thursday, January 30, 2020 at Harbor Hospital.  Born May 13, 1936 in Carroll County, she was the daughter of the late William E. Stahley and Nellie Overholtzer Stahley.

Before retiring she worked at Telemecanique. She was a 1953 graduate of Westminster High School, an avid Pittsburg Steelers fan, enjoyed reading, puzzles, dancing and country music.

She is survived by a daughter Teresa J. Sparhawk of Baltimore, one son Martin E. “Marty” Ward and wife Lynn of Union Bridge; 5 grandchildren Jason Sparhawk, Tim Sparhawk and wife Jamie, Justin, Tyler and Dylan Ward, one great-granddaughter Raelyn Sparhawk; 4 siblings Robert R. Stahley of Westminster, Ruth Utz Brooks of Pasadena, Doris L. Liggon of Smithsburg and Francis E. Stahley of Blue Ridge Summitt, PA.

She was predeceased by a son-in-law Bruce Sparhawk a sister Mary E. Bailey and brothers Kenneth, Bernard “Penny”, David “Sonny”, and Paul Stahley.

A private graveside service will be held at Emmitsburg Memorial Cemetery in Emmitsburg, MD.
