Norval C. Bowen, Jr., beloved son of the late Norval C. Bowen, Sr. and wife Lorraine and loving husband for 61 years to Joyce Bowen, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Wednesday, January 31, 2024. Norval was born on July 6, 1944 in Washington, DC.  He grew up in Granite, Maryland and was the oldest of five.

He is survived by four siblings, Wanda Thompson and husband John, Timothy Bowen and wife Kay, Brenda Garner and husband Raymond, Robin Garheart and husband Bill. Norval and Joyce were blessed with 4 children, one son who was deceased at birth, and surviving are daughter, Lauren Pickett and husband Gerry, Daren Bowen and wife Lisa, Craig Bowen and wife Jenny. They were also blessed to have 8 grandchildren, Tyler Pickett, Karlie Cook and husband Jesse, Craig Bowen, Jr. and wife Megan, Alyssa Bowen (deceased), Kyrstin Bowen and Julia Bowen, Brady Bowen and Colby Bowen. God’s goodness to them continued to a fourth generation of 5 great-grandchildren.

Norval was multi-talented and began employment with his Dad as an Ironworker, and due to a construction accident, he left that occupation to become a Realtor, he also taught Real Estate courses at Carroll Community College. He then got into computer programming with his close friend John Whitfield. Later he would work with his sons in their business. He retired from full time work and did part time work as an Inspector of underground utilities.  Norval was an avid hunter and trapper and loved the outdoors especially in Garrett County, Md where he enjoyed visits to the family cabin. He was an excellent marksman, receiving multiple awards in Trap Shooting. He received training and accreditation and was preparing to teach classes in gun safety before he became ill.  He was known for his quick wit and entertained all who knew him. He and his wife, Joyce are members of New Hope Fellowship Church.

The family will receive friends for a time of visitation and sharing of memories on Friday, February 2, 2024 from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. and Saturday February 3, 2024 from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. at New Hope Fellowship Church, 1019 Taneytown Pike, Westminster, Md 21158.
