Raymond Neal Smith

R. Neal Smith, 83, of Westminster, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at Carroll Hospital.  Born July 4, 1939 in Maryland, he was the son of the late Chester Smith and Edna Barksdale and was raised by his grandparents Frank and Melvia Freyman.  He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Phyllis Smith.

Before retiring, Neal was a truck driver most of his life.  He served in the Army and Navy for 10 years.  He loved his family very much and his smile will be missed by all who knew him.

Besides his wife, he is survived by son Jeffrey Smith and his wife Lanny, David Smith and wife Kim and Steven Smith, grandchildren Caitlin, Christina and Dylan Smith, Michael Long and Megan Hull, sister Sandra Crumbacker (Charles) and brother Lee Barksdale (Amy).  Also survived by many nieces and nephews. 

He was predeceased by sisters L. Kathleen Walkling, Marlene Drechsler and brother Ralph Smith. 

Services and interment will be private.
