Richard Eugene Covell, 84, of New Windsor, passed away on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at the Dove House. Born May 7, 1941 in Frederick Maryland, where he was raised by his grandparents Raymond and Nora Dickensheets.

Before retiring, he worked for K.W. Miller and Laytonsville Turf, both in Damascus. He enjoyed NASCAR, drag racing and camping.

He is survived by his children Darlene Long (Butch), Sandy Gilbert, Pam Covell (Anthony) and Richie Covell, Jr.; grandchildren Gwen, Brad, Travis, Aliva, Lane, Brantley, Gracelynn, Layla, Tiffany, Ty and Memphis, and cousin Brenda Hardy.

He was predeceased by grandson Blakely.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 East Main Street, Westminster. A funeral service will begin at 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to help defray the cost funeral services.
