Richard V Devilbiss, Sr.

Richard V. Devilbiss, Sr., 78, of Pleasant Valley, died Friday, April 15, 2022, at his residence.  Born December 16, 1943 at his family farm in Pleasant Valley, he was the son of the late Ethel (Royer) Devilbiss and Roger Z. Devilbiss.  He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Barbara (Zepp) Devilbiss.

Before retiring he worked 32 years for C & P Telephone Co. and Verizon.  He enjoyed farming, fishing, hunting and most of all, spending time with his family.  He was a 1962 graduate of Westminster High School and former member of Pleasant Valley Lions Club.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a son Richard V. “Tood” Devilbiss, Jr. and wife Julie of Pleasant Valley; daughter Amy L. Logie and husband Jim of Mayberry; grandchildren Samantha and Jessica Devilbiss and James W. “J.W.” Logie IV; siblings Paul “Slim” Devilbiss and wife Cookie, Doris “Sis” Schreiner, Larry “Butch” Devilbiss and wife Sylvia, Douglas Devilbiss, Donald Devilbiss and Linda “Lynne” Devilbiss and husband John Martin, all of Westminster; sister-in-law Marion Stenton of Thurmont.  Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by brothers William “Billy” Devilbiss, Roger “Bub” Devilbiss and wife Catharine “Kitty” and brother-in-law Larry Schreiner.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 21, 2022 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with YuJung Hwang officiating.  Interment will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
