Richard Lane “Rich” Shelton, Jr., 68, of Finksburg, died Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at Copper Ridge.  Born July 12, 1955 in Coaldale, PA, he was the son of the late Richard L. Shelton, Sr. and Helen Shelton Keller (step-father Bob Keller) of Millersville, PA.

Before retiring Rich worked as the Chief of Purchasing for the Carroll County Government.  He graduated from York College where he was in the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity.  He was a member of the Gamber Smallwood Optimist for 20 years where he coached lacrosse and football.  He also coached girl’s lacrosse at Westminster High School.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by children Jessica Strickland and husband Jack of Westminster; Lane Shelton of Finksburg; Stephanie Shelton of Baltimore; brother John Shelton and wife Jennifer of Sunset Beach, NC; and sister Bonnie Leedy and husband Bob of Tampa, FL; grandchildren Slater, Jack and Carson. 

The family will receive friends on Monday, June 24, 2024 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster.  Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.  Interment will be private.
