Robert F. “Bob” Haifley, 93, of Finksburg, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at his residence. Born December 27, 1930 in Taneytown, he was the son of the late H. Lee Haifley, Sr. and Beulah Virginia (Study) Haifley. He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Mary Ellen (Ricketts) Haifley.
He attended Taneytown High School and although he did not graduate he later received his GED. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He served from November 5, 1951 to October 19, 1953 and was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska.
Bob worked as a bricklayer and carpenter for many years. In 1966 he began working for the State of Maryland and after 27 years he retired from the Dept. of General Services in 1993.
After retiring Bob and Mary Ellen joined RVICS (Roving Volunteers in Christ’s Service) where they provided volunteer labor to Christian churches, schools, colleges and camps in various locations from New York to Florida. He was a member of Missionary Bible Baptist Church in Hanover, PA.
Surviving in addition to his beloved wife are daughter Marsha Haifley of Hanover, PA; sons Steven Haifley and wife Leslie of Finksburg; Michael Haifley and wife Debbie of Fairfield, PA; grandchildren Krista Haifley, Jennifer Conrad and husband Dale, Michael Haifley and Andrew Haifley; great-grandchildren Kandyce, Lindzie, Kaylee, Jacob and Vivienne.
He was predeceased by brother J. Roy Haifley, Milton R. Haifley, H. Lee Haifley, Jr. and John Haifley.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 9, 2024 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 10, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Hanover Missionary Bible Baptist Church, 920 Beck Mill Rd., Hanover, PA 17331 where friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment will be held at 2 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101-9929 or Missionary Bible Baptist Church.
