Robert Rice Hemp, Jr., 78, of Ocean City, MD, passed away at his home on Saturday, February 1, 2025.  Born on August 27, 1946 in Portsmouth, VA, he was the son of the late Rachel and Robert R. Hemp Sr.

Robbie graduated in 1965 from Westminster High School, Carroll County MD.  He went on to earn his degree from Tri State College (now Trine University).  After college, he spent most of his career at Texaco/Star Enterprises, which inspired his lifelong collection of Texaco memorabilia. Robbie spent his retirement years in Ocean City, MD with his beloved pugs.  He enjoyed keeping tabs on the town of Ocean City, watching cable news, and sharing endless historical facts.  

He is survived by his daughter, Kristen Hemp Small and her husband Michael of Townsend, DE; son Brandon Hemp and his wife Julie of Ocean City, MD; stepdaughter Kate Lennon and her son Parker of Mt. Kisco, NY; stepdaughter Dr. Christine Lennon of New York NY; grandchildren Khei Woods, Kayla Woods, Riker Hemp, Beckam Hemp, and Blakely Hemp; and lifelong friend Carol Flohr Hemp. 

Robbie was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Rachel Hemp; his sister, Sallie Hemp; and his wife, Mildred Scanlon.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 13, 2025 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Fletcher Funeral and Cremation Services, 254 East Main St., Westminster, MD.  Funeral services will begin at 12 p.m.  Interment will be private at St. Mark’s Cemetery in Petersville, MD.
