Rose Hooper Blizzard of Westminster, 74, passed away Sunday, August 31, 2025 at her home after a brief illness. Born November 24, 1950 in New Orleans, she was the daughter of the late John Albert Hooper, Jr. and Violet Hartman Hooper. Her husband Richard M. Blizzard passed away in July 2023.

Rose was the administrative assistant at McDaniel College in the psychology department and she worked at McDaniel College for the past 30 years. Rose looked forward to each day on campus. She loved engaging with both the students and the faculty.

She is survived by her loving children Alison Schreefel and husband Chanse of Westminster, Erin Traenkner and husband Eric of Hampstead, and Lauren Dauzat and husband Tom of Hampstead. In addition, Rose is survived by a granddaughter Harmony Schreefel and nephew, Jeffrey Eaton. Finally, Rose is survived by her cherished Great Dane, Claire, whom she doted on lovingly.

Rose grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana and graduated from John McDonough High School. She also earned her Bachelors of Art Magna Cum Laude from McDaniel College. Rose and Rick met in 1989 and married later that same year. After doing some travelling they settled in Westminster in 1998. Rose was a popular and gregarious person who enjoyed travelling, playing pickleball, watching scary movies, reading and volunteering in the community. Additionally, she loved to garden as well as enjoyed good food and spending time with friends. She recently travelled to Croatia where she made some lifelong connections.

The family will receive friends from 10 – 11 a.m. on Friday, September 5, 2025 at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E Main Street, Westminster. A celebration of life service will begin at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may made be made to Carroll County Humane Society or BridgingLife Hospice.
