Sheldon Shavitz Obituary

Sheldon Shavitz, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2024, at 78. He leaves a legacy of kindness, integrity, and dedication to his family and community.

Born May 8, 1946, in Baltimore, Maryland, Sheldon was the son of the late Edward and Dorothy Shavitz. He attended Pimlico High School. He went on to build a successful career as a business owner of 7-11 franchise and a video store. He spent most of his time retired where he could enjoy what he loved, sitting on his couch, remote in one hand and a joint in the other. Sheldon's humor makes everyone laugh, and his smile lights up the room.

Sheldon will be remembered most for his unwavering commitment to his family. He was a devoted husband to his loving wife Bonnie, 76, and a nurturing father to his children Michelle, 55, Kelly, 49, and grandfather to Morgan, 24, and Jillian, 20. He is survived by his sister, Etta Yospa, 82. His home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and love, and he enjoyed spending time with his family.

In addition to his family, Sheldon was deeply committed to his community. He was known for his generosity and willingness to lend a helping hand to those in need. Sheldon enjoyed weekly Wednesday night cards with his friends, watching the Ravens and Lester Holt and sitting on his balcony jamming to music.

Sheldon's kindness, wisdom, and gentle spirit will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Though he may be gone, his memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
