Stephen John Sabol, Jr., 83, of Westminster, died Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at Sunrise Senior Living in Westminster. Born June 2, 1938 in New York City, son of the late Susan Sabo Sabol and Stephen J. Sabol, where he lived for 37 years. He is survived by his beloved wife Viera Sabol.
He served in the Army in his youth and then spent his career as a manufacturing engineer. He was a Certified member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, enjoyed being a handyman, woodworking, classical music, traveling and his Slovak heritage. He was a 39 year devoted member of Grace Lutheran Church, where he served on the Property, Worship and Music Committees and was very involved with mission trips.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son Stephen J. Sabol, III of Dunwoody, GA; a daughter Suzanna R. Erdley and husband Andy of Manchester, PA; grandchildren Emma, Seth and Ethan Erdley and Michael and Sam Sabol.
He was predeceased by twin sisters Frances Sawicki and Olga Tiedemann.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, September 24, 2021, at 11am at Grace Lutheran Church, 21 Carroll St., Westminster. Visitation will be held at 10am prior to the service. A luncheon will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the National Down Syndrome Society(NDSS) in honor of his grandson, Michael, or to Grace Lutheran Church, 21 Carroll St., Westminster, MD 21157.
