Steven Allen Karaffa

Steven Allen Karaffa, 57, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, June 16, 2022. Steve was born on July 12, 1964, in El Paso, Texas. Steve is the son of retired Air Force Senior Master Sgt Peter Karaffa and his wife Alice and traveled with them all over the world in his youth. 

Steve graduated from Park High School in  Fairborne Ohio. In 1983 he joined the United States Air Force as an Allied Body Trades Technician and proudly served his country for 20 years. After retiring from active duty, he moved with his family to Maryland. Steve used his talents the past nineteen years in various positions and ended his work career at McDaniel College. Steve liked collecting things, working in the yard, working on cars, spending time with his family, and hanging out with friends.

Steve leaves behind his wife of 34 years, Barbara Michaelian, and two sons, Victor and Jesse Karaffa.  He is also survived by his parents and brother Jeff (Iris), sisters-in-law Kathy Michaelian (Keith Jacobson) and Nancy Michaelian, and several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews.  He is preceded in death by his sister-in-law Diana Karaffa, brother-in law Howard J. Lynde II,  mother and father-in-law Helen and Ken Michaelian and his maternal grandparents.

A memorial service will be held at the Deer Park United Methodist Church and he will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery.
