Sue Yoder Misterka, 84, of Westminster, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at Carroll Lutheran Village Healthcare Center. Born December 1, 1941 in New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Allen Yoder and Ethel Truncer Yoder Brown. She was the loving wife for two decades to Michael Joseph Misterka.
Before retiring she worked at Get Connected with Sheppard Pratt, she also worked at Comcast Cable, BERC, the Rape Crisis Center and went to Moldova with the Peace Corps. She dedicated her life to helping women and children of domestic violence. She was a Reiki Master and a thought reader.
In her younger years, she worked for Proctor & Gamble as a product marketer, where she dressed as a stewardess and traveled around the country while partying in the sky.
She graduated from Cherry Hill High School in New Jersey and Grove City College in Pennsylvania as a teacher.
Sue was a metaphysical lady, loved to dress in vibrant colors, make people laugh and smile, help everyone she could, she danced to her own tune. Sue loved music, art classes and art work, gardening, swimming and in her younger years participated in synchronized swimming and rescuing dogs. She had a passion for driving, especially responsive cars and only she could drive; the car was her domain.
Her family and friends meant the world to her and she loved spending time with her grandchildren. Over their years together she was a great international travel companion with her husband, Michael.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her children Brad Cornwell (Bridget), James Cornwell (Emi), Jason Misterka (Shannon), Monica Misterka and Mathew Misterka (Jena); grandchildren Kylie, Joshua, Lizzy, Leah, William, Avery, Max and Zevvi; cousin Fern Carter; brother Dick Yoder and 4 legged rescue dog Holly.
