Tammy Mitchem

Tammy received her wings, and became an angel on December 19, 2021.

She was preceded in angelhood by several grandparents; Donald and Marion Burkindine; father Robert D. Heaps; mother Patricia B. Cogswell; sister Mona D. Price; brother George (Bear) Tucker; niece A. Price; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Tammy was survived by her husband Dave Mitchem of Tazwell, Virginia; sister Peggy Burkindine Newman and husband Terry of Penhook, Virginia; brothers Robert Shaw of Arkansas, and Scott Fike of Reading, PA; nieces Tereasa Munson Anderson of California, Wendy Lynn Jamison of Havre-De-Grace, Ann Marie Tucker of Mississippi; nephews Donald (LT) Miller of Roanoke, VA., and Larry (Scooter) Price of Edgewood. She is also survived by several great nieces and nephews, her best friend and companion Jimmy DeRita of Westminster, and very special best friend Mary Tucker Frazier of Westminster.  

Tammy was a people person and she had many, many friends. She never met a stranger. She made everyone feel like family. She would adopt everyone. She loved animals and would take in any that needed her. Her family, friends, and animals were her world. She loved to laugh and put a smile on your face. She loved fishing, crabbing, boating, swimming, and anything to do with water. Her favorite color was blue. She will always be a river rat as she called herself. A river rat from Havre-De-Grace.

Services will be private.

Contributions can be made to the funeral home to help defray funeral expenses.
