Thomas Blanton, Sr., 75, of Westminster, died on Friday, September 14, 2018 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Born September 10, 1943 in Sneedville, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Earl Blanton and Beatrice Conken Blanton. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Barbara Elaine Blanton.
He was the owner and operator of Tom Blanton & Son Electric for 30 years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict, he was awarded the Army Commendation Medal and was a POW. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Damascus. He enjoyed fishing and reading the Bible. He loved spending time with his family and his grandchildren. His grandchildren were his pride and joy, they were everything to him.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his children Tommy Blanton, Jr. and wife Millie of Westminster, Crystal Caltrider and Douglas of Westminster and Frankie Eyler of Mt. Airy; brothers Barry Blanton and wife Margie of Virginia, Kenneth Blanton and wife Judy of Mt. Airy, John Blanton and wife Helen of Frederick; sisters Ruby Collins and husband Mike of North Carolina and Sue Farrell of North Carolina; grandchildren Jordan, Summer, Ashlee, Kaylee, Kayden, Abbey, Elizabeth and Lilly. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by brothers Gene and Ray Blanton.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8:00 p.m. at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main Street, Westminster.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with Rev. Vernon King officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Frederick.
