Thomas John Murphy

Thomas John Murphy, 63, of Hampstead, MD, passed away peacefully in Westminster, MD on July 31, 2026, surrounded by his family.

He was born in Hempstead, Long Island, New York in 1963 to Cecilia (Conklin) Murphy and Joseph Murphy, and was the fourth of their five children. He married Mary Murphy in 1994, and the two were married for 32 years. He worked as a Master Carpenter for Zantzinger, Inc for 18 years before his death. He was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, and friend.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Charles Murphy, and is survived by his wife, Mary, daughter Kelsey (Michael) Murphy-Yackanicz, brother Brian (Jennifer) Murphy, sister Kathleen (Edwin) Heicher, sister Maureen (James) Ryder, sister-in law Tammy (Charles) Murphy, one niece, and four nephews. He was also survived by his two dogs, Reese and Tiger, who brought him joy for the past 10 years.

Friends and family are invited to gather for a celebration of life on Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 12-3 pm at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main Street, Westminster, MD 21157. The family requests that guests come in casual attire, as Thomas was not one to make the occasion sad or formal.
