On August 22, 2021, Thomas Oliver Shipley (aka, Tom, Tommy, Ollie, Ship) passed away peacefully at home surrounded by the love of his family.
Born in Baltimore City, Maryland to father Marshall Shipley and mother, Louise (nee Fefel) Shipley on December 15, 1935. Tom was a loving father to Jill Boorman (Andrew) and Karen Riesett (Rick) and grandfather to four grandsons, Brad Medairy (Kimberly), Thomas (TJ) Riesett, Christian Boorman, Alec Boorman. Siblings include Kitty Delong (pre-deceased), Dorothy Abbott (pre-deceased), Lucy Shipley (pre-deceased), Cornelius Shipley (pre-deceased), Ginger Shipley, Joe Shipley and Lloyd Shipley.
Tom grew up in Baltimore City and frequented Walbrook where he liked to ‘raise hell.’ He was fun-loving and enjoyed his 1957 Chevy Belair, Corvette and motorcycles. He was the President of the Woodlawn Satyrs motorcycle club in the 1970's. Tom was best known for his time spent in Woodlawn, Maryland socializing with friends, shooting pool, playing shuffleboard and liar’s poker, softball, golf and karaoke.
Tom was a talented stone mason and did formstone in and around Baltimore City on many row homes. He was a retired Fire Fighter for Baltimore City; Engine 27.
Before his passing, he was loved and cared for by many special caretakers including his son-in-law Rick who he loved dearly. He will be missed by all for his jokes, teasing and fun-loving nature.
A celebration of life for close friends and family will be held on September 25, 2021 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm at The Elks in Westminster, Md.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Elks #2277, 538 N. Gorsuch Road, Westminster, Md. 21157 to support youth, veteran and drug programs in Carroll County, Maryland.
