Tony Wayne Mahaffey, 48, of Hampstead, entered eternity September 30, 2020. He was born March 27, 1972 in Baltimore, Maryland and grew up in Joppatown.
He is survived by his fiancé Barbie Smith, her two children who loved him dearly, Breanna and Nathan, his son Tony DeGraffenreid, his father Gerald and girlfriend Donna Brenner, his brother Gerald Jr. and wife Rachel, nieces and nephew, Mindi, Maddy, and Brad Mahaffey. He was preceded in death by his precious mother, Joan “Babydoll” Mahaffey.
Tony loved life and people. He never met a stranger. Tony had a huge heart, a great sense of humor and the gift of making any environment better just because he was there. He had a heart of compassion and helped those around him whenever he was able. Tony made an impression and touched many lives wherever he went. He was taken far too soon. His life was supposed to go on for many, many more years and experience many things, but we hold tightly to the memories we have of Tony. The love he gave and the joy he spread by his amazing personality will forever be what he is remembered for. Tony was loved by many and will be so very missed. The world has lost one of its best, and there will forever be a void. Tony’s mom was surely there to meet him on the other side for what was without a doubt a most splendid reunion.
Tony had a heart for children with special needs. The Tim Tebow Foundation sponsors an annual “Night to Shine” event that is an unforgettable prom night experience, centered on God’s love, for youth with special needs. Please consider making a donation in Tony’s name for this unique ministry. https://www.timtebowfoundation.org/ministries/night-to-shine#
