Vernon “Eb” / “Vern” Ormond Eberwein was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He departed this world peacefully on March 4, 2025, at the age of 83.

He was born August 01, 1941, in Baltimore, MD, to Henry and Ruth (Preston) Eberwein. He graduated from Mergenthaler Vocational Technical High School, aka MERVO. He worked at Sparrows Point Steel Mill and then for the Mass Transit Administration (MTA), formerly the Baltimore Transit Company, from 1962 to 2000, when he retired. During this time he also served as Vice President of the ATU (Amalgamated Transit Union) Local 1300 for six years fighting for fair wages, benefits, and equality for all members.This fight carried on beyond his two terms as Vice President as he still advocated for these policies and principles throughout his career.

Vernon is survived by his daughter Vicki M. Myers and her husband John of Westminster, MD.; son Keith V. Eberwein and his wife Tammy of Williamsport, MD.; two granddaughters whom he treasured immensely, Harper R. Eberwein and Reagan E. Eberwein of Williamsport, MD. as well as several in-laws, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife of 58 years, Thelma M. Eberwein; parents Henry J. Eberwein and Ruth E. Eberwein; brother Robert Eberwein and sister Eugenia Shipe.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main Street, Westminster, MD.

Memorial services will begin at 4:00 p.m. with Rev. David Nau officiating.
