Vessa Lillian Lawrence

Vessa Lillian Alkire Lawrence, 88, of Westminster, MD., died on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at Long View Healthcare Center in Manchester, MD. Born on February 19, 1933 in South Cumberland, MD., she was the daughter of the late James William Alkire and Virgie Agnes Twigg.

Over the years she worked as an ice cream store soda jerk in Essex, MD., Glen L. Martin plane building factory in Baltimore, MD., Blue Print Runner, sewing factory in Maryland, Random House book distributing center in Westminster, MD., she had a nursing home ministry through the Crosswind Church of God in Westminster, MD., a member of the Church of God in Cumberland, MD. During the 1960’s, a secretary in a doctor’s office with her daughter-in-law Barbara Lawrence, retiring from Random House and was a member of Crosswind Church of God in Westminster, MD.

She is survived by three sons; first son Stephen Eugene Lawrence and daughter-in-law Vivian Lane Collingsworth and husband Mario Gimeno; granddaughter Angela Elizabeth and husband Josh Wagner; great-grandchildren Tyler, Noah, and Gabrella Wagner; granddaughter Jessica Lyn and husband Steven Michael Foster, Sr; great-grandchildren Steven, JR., Grace Lane, Anna Lyn, and Brooke Elizabeth Foster and family pet Si; third son Douglas Edward Lawrence and wife Lisa Mehelle Albaught and daughter-in-law Faye Uler; grandchildren Tina Jean and husband Davey; great-grandchildren Davey, Mikey, and Timmy; granddaughter Amie; Fourth son Richard Alan Lawrence and daughter-in-law Sharon Mathis; grandson Shawn Alan Arthur Lawrence and wife Chelsey Mowery; great-grandchildren Brooklyn Nicole, Jaiden Dane, and Landon Blaze. She is predeceased by second son Donald Blake Lawrence and his wife Barbara Jean Brigman, and her only brother George Edward Alkire and his wife Virginia Lee Hockaday. Nieces and nephews are Linda, Tim Edward Alkire and wife Linda Michaels; great-nephews are Shawn Alkire and wife Bonnie; great-grandniece Alivia; great-nephew Jeffrey Alkire; nephew Gregory Edward Alkire and wife Suson Acre and family, and niece Barbara. Close family and friends uncle Thomas Moraice McClave and wife Aunt Helen, aunt Shirley Moore, Millie Snyder, Evelyn Harman, Jennie Cushing., Edith Mays, and Robin Marie Koontz.

Graveside service was held on Sunday, November 21, 2021 at Mount Zion Cemetery, 7700 Knobley Road, Keyser, WV. 26726.
