William Franklin Haifley, 91, of Westminster, died Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at his daughter’s residence. Born August 22, 1929 in Frizzellburg, he was the son of the late Florence (Powell) Haifley and Roland F. Haifley. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary E. Haifley.
Before retiring he worked as a Supervisor for BGE. He was a graduate of Westminster High School and obtained an Associate’s Degree. He served in the Army during the Korean War.
He was a member of Church of the Open Door, the Westminster Lions Club where he was a recipient of the Melvin Jones Award, member of the American Legion Carroll Post No. 31, VFW Molleville Farm Post No. 467, Eagles No. 2266 and Carroll County Electrical Contractors Association. He also served as Westminster City Councilman and President.
He is survived by daughters Jenny Williams and husband Daniel of Westminster and Carole Maner and husband Terry of Calabash, NC; grandchildren Sarah and Josiah Maner. Special thanks to his caregiver Judy Caleo.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 27, 2021 from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster. Funeral services will begin at 2:30 p.m. with his son-in-law, Terry Maner officiating. Private interment at Baust Church Cemetery.
