William H. “Bill” Wirts of Sykesville, Maryland passed away on March 30, 2026, after a battle with pancreatic cancer. He was a man whose life was measured not by accolades, but by the countless lives he quietly lifted. A devoted husband, loyal friend, and extraordinary neighbor, Bill embodied kindness in its truest form.

Bill shared forty-six loving years with his wife, Diane Davis Wirts, who passed in 2022. He spoke often of her and of his hope to be reunited with the love of his life. Their bond shaped the way he moved through the world — with patience, humility, and deep compassion.

For more than 35 years, Bill served as Head Mechanic at Hobbits Glen and Fairway Hills Golf Courses in Columbia, Maryland. His skill was unmatched, but it was his heart that defined him. Bill helped anyone who needed it — friends, family, coworkers, and neighbors alike. From small repairs to major projects, from finding what was missing to making what could not be found, he saved countless people from frustration, confusion, and expense.

Those who knew him often said, “There’s no one like Bill.” He gave without expectation, showed up without being asked, and made life easier simply by being in it.

Bill is survived by his sister Mary Omlor of Granite, Maryland; brothers Brian “Butch” Scott Wirts Sr. of Sykesville and Gary Steven Wirts; sister Bonnie Carroll; nephew Nicholas Wirts; and many extended family members, friends, and neighbors who will forever carry his memory.

Bill once said, “As long as you are living, I will live on too.” His kindness, generosity, and steady presence will indeed live on in all who were blessed to know him.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network or Bridging Life (Dove House).
