William Spencer “Bill” Barrick, 88, of Finksburg, died Sunday, October 15, 2023, at Carroll Hospital. Born August 1, 1935 in Patapsco, Maryland, he was the son of the late Evelyn (Spencer) Weaver and Melvin R. Barrick. He was the beloved husband of Shirley Fisher Barrick, his wife of 60 years.
He worked as a brakeman for 41 years. Bill was hired by Western Maryland Railroad in 1955 and retired from CSX in 1996. He was a 1954 graduate of Westminster High School.
Besides his wife, he is survived by daughter Nettie J. Barrick Funk, grandchildren Weston, Wilson, and Rheda Funk, step-grandson Chad Funk (Amanda), great-grandchildren Hunter and Ryder Funk, sisters-in-law Gwyn Weaver, Katherine Shaw (Fred) and Linda Fisher.
He was predeceased by brothers Bob Barrick, Charles “Nubbin” Barrick and Jim Weaver, son-in-law Douglas Funk and sister-in-law Margaret Barrick.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 19, 2023 from 5 to 7 p.m. and Friday, October 20, 2023 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 20, 2023 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Patapsco Cemetery.
