William E. “Pip” Pittinger, 82, of Union Bridge, died on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at his home. Born on November 7, 1939 in Taneytown, he was the son of the late Harry Edward Pittinger and Anna Elizabeth Foreman Pittinger Haines. His wife of 53 years, Shirley Anne Bair Pittinger died on September 14, 2009.
Before retiring he was a Master Plumber at William E. Pittinger Plumbing and Heating. His slogan was “Got a drip, call “Pip”. He served in the United States Army Reserves as a Sergeant 1st class. He was a life member of the Mayberry Game Protective Association, former member of the VFW, American Legion, and Moose. He was a Boy Scout leader for Troop 899, and an Umpire and Softball Coach. He enjoyed hunting and weightlifting competitions.
He is survived by three children, Richard A. Pittinger of Union Bridge, Douglas E. Pittinger (Jodi) of Littlestown, and Holly L. Becker (Charles, Jr.) of Hagerstown; five grandchildren, Richard A. Pittinger, II., Cody N. Becker, Taylor M. Doherty, Tori L. Pittinger, and Alli B. Becker; four great-grandchildren Kelton M., Landon D. and Rileigh R. Pittinger, and Coleman P. Doherty.
The family will receive friends at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 East Main Street, Westminster, on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday at the church from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Piney Creek Church of the Brethren, 4699 Teeter Road, Taneytown, with Rev. Stanley Diehl officiating. Interment will follow at Piney Creek Church Cemetery with military honors.
