Message from Roger Scott Simons
August 2, 2016 9:23 AM

To my brother and dearest friend, Glen. We became so much closer in the last year but after the results of that test, well then we talked everyday, getting together not just for a card game or shooting some pool but to really talk to each other one on one and what had been a typical older brother/younger brother relationship blossomed into close confidantes. Yeh, that was what we became confidantes. Of course, I hurt for you so much, all you were going through. I knew you were suffering immensely and doing your best to cover it up. It wasn't your nature to give in to the miseries of life. You were a fighter, a scrapper, you felt your calling in life was to make a joke anytime and anyway you could not the type to let anyone or anything get you down but this time you ran into more than any single human being could endure. It wasn't in your nature to let everyone see just how much physical but also mental pain you were in. Looking at your family and believing, although no doctor had said as much, that your days were numbered, somehow in your heart and soul you knew. It seems you had known for some time, by the way the conversation went that you had some sort of inkling even months before you started having the symptoms.
I do want to say those talks will live on in my memory bro till I join you. As Deb said, "He will live on in all the lives he touched." That was many. You'll always be with me Glen...always. I love you now, I always will. Funny, Deb just reminded me it was you who fixed it that Deb and I could get married! You and Chris. I have that to thank you for too brother!
At the very least I know you are out of pain. At the very best, which is what I believe, you are with Mom and Pop, and all our brothers and Nancy sitting on the bank of a river fishing. It's near sunset and Mom is hollering for all of us to get cleaned up for dinner. The cabin is up in the mountains and it's a beauty holding all of us as our time comes one by one. This is what we both believe and I hope someday I'm right there with you along with Debbie and my sons and their kids, etc., etc.,one day. God Bless them. Take care Bro, I'll be seeing you eventually but until we meet again, say hi to Bill, Nancy, Bobby, Mackie, Richard and Roy and the ones that were born before me, that left us early on, Frankie and Thomas at that cabin in the sky!
